Today marks 11.5 weeks of marriage and we are still going strong 🙂 We’ve traveled to a different country, bought a house, moved to Georgia, gone on vacation, and started new jobs. Sometimes I pause for a minute and wonder when real life is going to actually start. It’s been such a whirlwind blast of fun! I finally had a few minutes to sort through our wedding pictures while we were being lazy on Monday so prepare yourself for an OVERLOAD of wedding pictures over the next couple of weeks.
Let’s start with the Rehearsal & Dinner.
The night before the wedding, we had our rehearsal at the church. We were locked out when we first got there, but managed to get in and practice for the big day.
We decided very early on in our
longest engagement of all time two-year engagement that we wanted to have a very simple rehearsal dinner. Since we got engaged in my parent’s backyard, we thought it would be really awesome to have our rehearsal dinner there too. My parent’s have thrown some pretty big parties over the years, but I think we might have maxed out the number of people at the Huber House on June 19th 🙂 I never went back and counted, but we had almost 60 RSVPs!
We decided on Mexican food since it is our favorite and a friend of my mom’s catered the party for us. On the menu was a burrito bar, chips and salsa, and tortilla soup. We loaded up on a bunch of different craft beers (and a keg of Bud Light) and plenty of soft drink options for the evening.
It threatened rain ALL DAY and I was freaking out. There was a chance of rain all weekend and I could have cared less if it rained on our wedding day (in fact, people kept telling me it’s good luck). I REALLY REALLY REALLY didn’t want it to rain during our rehearsal dinner. We had a tent, but I was worried it wouldn’t hold heavy rains. Plus, we had cornhole boards and wanted everyone to have room to hang out.
The highlight of the night was playing The Newlywed Game with our parents. One of The Professor’s best men was our host for the evening and came up with some pretty entertaining questions! If you have a few hours to kill, get on youtube and search for old episodes…you won’t regret it!
It was such an amazing evening. The last of our friends didn’t head out until almost midnight! We are so lucky to have such amazing people in our lives. Our rehearsal dinner was more fun than I could have ever imagined. So many important memories have been made at my parent’s house and I’m so glad we added this one to the list <3
